She listened well, mentored intentionally, and loved deeply. Throughout her adult life she met with countless people and spoke clearly of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, how he saved and changed her life and how he could save and change theirs. After a long battle with ovarian cancer, Rana is now safely and peacefully at rest in the arms of Jesus.

She was born to Lewis and Bonnie Jones on December 3 in Gridley, California. She grew up in Grass Valley, California, was active in Calvary Bible Church, and ran track and cross country in high school. She graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1983.

She moved to Portland, Oregon in the summer of 1985 where she met Stuart Ross Cameron. They dated, fell in love, and were married on September 6, 1986. In 1987 they had their daughter, Meghan Elizabeth. In 1991, their son, Alec Scott, was born. Rana’s family was the pride and joy of her life. She was a loving, faithful wife and a present, attentive mother. Her family enjoyed many years of camping and adventuring together.

The main source of Rana’s purpose and joy came from her deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a faithful Christian, devoted herself to God, studying the Bible, prayer, and teaching many people to do the same by serving in a local church in whatever town the Cameron family lived. In the church, Rana served as a youth leader, a woman’s Bible study leader, and a spiritual mentor. Her final church home was Second Mile in Tucson where she mentored and spiritually mothered many women in the church towards health and wholeness. Rana became certified in Narrative Story Therapy where she learned to care for women who suffered from trauma and abuse. Rana also trained in equine therapy in order to help people process and heal through their stories.

Rana will be remembered for her listening ear, love of horses, video gaming, hobby collecting, and contagious sense of humor. She was kind, compassionate, wise, and discerning. She would listen with empathy and tears and would also not hesitate to tell you to “suck it up, buttercup.”

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Stuart Cameron, her daughter Meghan Fravel (Justin), son Alec Cameron (Sarah), her eight grandchildren, her father Lewis Jones, her four siblings and their families, and many close friends.

The Celebration of Life to remember Rana Cameron will be held at Pantano Christian Church in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, April 20th at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christian Health Care Ministries or National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.

As our family grieves we couldn't be more thankful for all who have loved our family so well during this time. We truly could not ever express how much your prayers and tangible gifts have meant.

We will update this webpage as we make formal plans for a celebration of life. We know that she made an impact an on all she encountered and we look forward to getting to honor her legacy through your stories over the coming weeks.

We are so sad for us, but so happy for Rana that she has finally won her battle. We are standing in the hope of Jesus that she is pain free, fully healed, and at peace forevermore with her Savior. Because of that fact, and in Christ alone, we can face tomorrow!
