Collaborative Follow Through
2 Corinthians 8:16-24

vs. 16, the same earnest care I have for you.

The task at hand is to take up the collection in order to serve the church in Jerusalem.

Titus will be speaking and acting on Paul’s behalf with the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 4:1,6,15-17 This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers,[a] that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. 15 For though you have countless[a] guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. 16 I urge you, then, be imitators of me. 17 That is why I sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church.

1 Corinthians 11:1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:1-3 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Philippians 4:9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Be an imitator of those who deeply chase after Jesus.
Listen, learn, and live out their example and do the same for others.

28 references to modeling in the NT.

Question: What are you modeling that others would do well to do the same? Does my life demonstrate the peace of God? If others do what you do will they experience the presence and peace of God?

My life is my ministry and my message. It will either verify everything I am, or it will denounce it.

Not a life of perfection, but a life that is being perfected.
broken, humbled, and Jesus focused

Helping a person become whole.

Paul recognizes that the power of one’s witness corresponds directly to one’s reputation for integrity.

What is it that God wants you to be about?
Coming along side with intention, care, purpose, and direction.

How do I become a humble advocate of kingdom living? (New Kingdom life)

1 Peter 5:5-11 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
