Vessel

Our mission is to be an integral part of rooting, building up, and maturing students in Jesus so that they may forcefully pursue His will for their lives.

Vessel is Second Mile's collegiate ministry that focuses on helping students to experience spiritual growth both in the context of a student-catered, community group and through incorporation into the diverse local church body. Our community group meets Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 for dinner, fellowship, and discussion.

Key Verse:

Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. | 2 Timothy 2:20-21

Why We Exist:

And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Israel. | Judges 2:10

So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. | Romans 11:5

The Work Before us:

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. | Colossians 2:6-7

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. | Hosea 10:12

Our Future Hope:

This will be a sign for you, O Hezekiah: this year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit. Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above. | Isaiah 37:30-31

From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. | Matthew 11:12
